According to notification Prof. Dr. Abdul Sattar Shakir has been appointed as the vice-chancellor of Punjab Tianjin University of Technology, Lahore by the Governor of Punjab/ Chancellor of PTUT for a period of four years. He has taken over the charge as vice chancellor w.e.f. October 11, 2019. The Registrar and all the  faculty of the university warmly welcomed the newly appointed vice-chancellor and assured the full cooperation to improve the university affairs.

Dr. Shakir is a renowned professional engineer and remained senior most professor & Dean Faculty of Civil Engineering at University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore. He obtained his PhD in Civil Engineering & MS in Hydraulic Engineering from University of Newcastle Upon Tyne England. He was awarded Overseas Research Students Award (ORS) for the year 1990-91 and 1991-92 by the the committee of vice chancellor & Principals of UK in appreciation of his best research credentials.  He has more than 37 years of teaching, research & professional experience. He has supervised 10 PhD, 33 MS scholars and published more than  75 research papers in journals of international repute. He was awarded “Best University Award” by Higher Education Commission Islamabad in recognition of his excellent contribution for the teaching profession. He served as member Board of Directors M/s NESPAK & Director Center of Excellence in Water Resources Engineering. He has also been contributing in wide ranging assignments at national level including but not limited to: Convenor/member National Curriculum Review Committees of HEC, Member Governing Body PEC, Member Engineering Accreditation Board PEC, Construction Industry Regulatory Committee (CIRC) and several other important committees of PEC and other universities in Pakistan.
